Wow! It is so easy to get bogged down with weights. Some of the weight we carry is ours, but often time it really belongs to someone else. I am reminded of a previous friend who loved to empty junk through our conversations. It is okay for others to have rare occasions where they want to vent, but not every time we have a conversation with them. We find ourselves being cordial and trying to listen. Then we find ourselves avoiding them. Let me tell you what really needs to happen. Open your mouth and stop them when they want to unload all their weights onto you. Point them to the garbage can and allow them to unload there. We are not meant to carry the weights of the world. I firmly believe that is why we are so mean and angry. We have tried to process everyone’s problems including our own. Social media has not help but has added to this problem. The Word says to lay aside every weight and sin that so easily sets us back. That means get rid of the weights. They are too heavy to carry. We cannot run our race and endure if we are trying to carry all the problems of the world. Jesus got this. He did not ask for our help to carry anything He has already defeated and conquered!
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us. Hebrews 12:1 ESV
